Mental Health & Well-being in Schools

This 5-day course explores the importance of mental health for both teachers and students, providing practical strategies to create a supportive school environment. Participants will learn stress management techniques, emotional intelligence skills, and ways to identify and support students facing mental health challenges. The course also focuses on fostering positive communication, resilience, and a school-wide culture of well-being. By the end, educators will be equipped with tools to promote a healthier, more inclusive learning atmosphere.


Mental Health & Well-being in Schools (for Teachers & Students)

Day 1: Understanding Mental Health in Schools

  • Introduction to mental health and its importance in the school environment.
  • Identifying common mental health challenges faced by teachers and students (stress, anxiety, burnout).
  • Understanding the connection between emotional well-being and academic performance.
  • Strategies to create a supportive and open classroom culture.

Day 2: Stress Management & Resilience Building

  • Recognizing signs of stress and burnout in students and teachers.
  • Practical mindfulness and relaxation techniques for stress reduction.
  • Building resilience through self-care, time management, and positive thinking.
  • How to integrate stress-management activities into the school day.

Day 3: Emotional Intelligence & Positive Communication

  • Importance of emotional intelligence (EI) in student-teacher relationships.
  • Developing self-awareness, empathy, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Creating a safe space for students to express emotions and seek support.
  • Encouraging positive communication strategies for a mentally healthy classroom.

Day 4: Identifying & Supporting Students with Mental Health Challenges

  • Recognizing early warning signs of mental health struggles in students.
  • Effective intervention techniques and when to seek professional help.
  • Role of teachers in supporting students with anxiety, depression, or trauma.
  • Collaboration with parents, counselors, and school staff for holistic support.

Day 5: Implementing a School-Wide Well-being Culture

  • Strategies for integrating mental well-being into the school curriculum.
  • Creating a mental health-friendly classroom environment.
  • Encouraging peer support programs and teacher self-care initiatives.
  • Developing an action plan to sustain mental health awareness in schools
